After the Roaring 20's, makeup-- much like lifestyles-- became much more low-key. Barely-visible liner replaced thick kohl. Soft brown eyeshadow replaced heavy black lids. And women started to wear Vaseline on their lids to make them shine. The only drama that remained was in the lashes; women continued to prize thick, black lashes.
