Mmm, spring. There's nothing better than the feeling of sitting on the dock, the shore, or the beach, feet in warm water, reading a book or just staring up at the sky. There's an 80-degree day on the horizon, and I'm excited to enjoy the first really warm day to its fullest.
This morning I had no idea what I was going to wear, and I always do my makeup while I'm in my pajamas, so I sat down and decided to do something that could go with anything! A color from my Too Faced Sweet Dreams palette caught my eye, and I built the look around that:
As you can tell by the title, I'm running on empty today! I was working last night until 6am, then slept for a few hours and had to work again. I did a smash-bang job on my eyeshadow today. Here we go...

Do you ever wonder how fashion designers all seem to share a hive mind when it comes to picking the "in" color for the season? It actually has nothing to do with a Fashion Borg Queen, and everything to do with Pantone.
Pantone, the "color authority," annually chooses a Color of the Year. This year, it's Tangerine Tango. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, describes Tangerine Tango as such:
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
This year, Sephora partnered with Pantone to create the first-ever Color of the Year cosmetics collection. Included in the collection: lipstick, a nail enamel set, two different blushes, a lipgloss set, an eyeliner set, eyeshadow, false lashes, an eyelash curler, a brush set, and a makeup bag. This is an old standby for me, but I haven't done it yet this year. It was done using my favorite Urban Decay palette, which (gasp!) is NOT one of the Naked palettes. I got this from my friend Britt as a birthday gift about four years ago. Still using it, still love it, and I've only hit silver in two of the pans.
As the sun begins to shine a little more, and the weather gets warmer, I'm getting anxious to start planting, which is where the title is coming from. I live in an apartment, and we have a rather large balcony, so I fill it with boxes of morning glories and petunias spilling over the edge of the balcony, little pots of herbs, a few tomato plants, and at least one hanging basket of fuchsias. This year, I'm thinking I'll be able to keep a night-blooming jasmine, with the weather we're having!
I've been a bit obsessed with color lately. I may go neutral tomorrow in order to wear some bright lips and cheeks (I'm going to be doing a review on Sephora + Pantone's Color of the Year collection tomorrow!) But, for now, enjoy my cool blues and greens...
I have a shoebox filled with magazine clippings and a folder on my computer full of inspiration photos for eye makeup; I've gotten away from them lately, but yesterday I went through and picked one to try out. It was labeled a Valentine's eye. All I could think of after completing it, though, was a guy who my friend used to crush on and his favorite shirt. I'm still laughing as I look at it.
I wanted to do something bright and fun today, so I used some blue and purple:
We're having our first storms of the year in my part of the world. I love this weather; curling up with a mug of hot chocolate and listening to the rain is so relaxing.
Purple and green aren't colors one would normally think to put together, but I'm going to have to combine all sorts of colors in order to keep this challenge going!

This was a request from a girl called Velocity. She is a fan of a sci-fi series (she never specified which), with a character called Tenaya who has a fun makeup look she'd like to wear. She asked me to do a step-by-step tutorial for it. Since I worked on that today, and didn't have anywhere to go, this is my official eye of the day!
Yes, it's St. Patrick's Day and I'm not wearing green! I should have; I've got a bit of Irish ancestry, and my best friend Kellie and I have a crush on all things from Ireland. I had big plans for my eyes, but I REALLY wanted to wear my brand-new floral flats today, and bright emerald eyes just wouldn't match them very well.
Today's eye was quick and simple with the help of eyeshadow pencils from NARS.
Before March fades away, I thought I'd devote a day to the birthstone of March, which is aquamarine.

It's summertime in March! I had to attend a conference today which took me between several buildings, and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to walk around outside in a dress with no coat on. 70 degrees!

Hello! Today was all about Benefit on my face. I wore the Benetint (favorite cheek stain ever!) with the Watt's Up highlighter and Hoola bronzer (which is second only to Cargo's bronzers, in my opinion.) I also wore these cream shadows:
